CPD AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

WINTER/SPRING TRAINING PROGRAMME 2020

TRAINING IN ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT) FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS & STUDENTS/TRAINEES.

ACT is a third wave behavioural therapy, with a firm base in scientific research. It is used by clinical psychologists around the world and has been proven to be effective in a range of clinical conditions and mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, chronic pain, workplace stress, maternal mental health and others.
Aims and objectives:

The workshops provide an introduction to the core principles and techniques of ACT and give participants the opportunity to practice an introductory-only range of skills and techniques that could be helpful with client work.
In the first workshop, we look at an overview of the ACT model and are introduced to the six powerful principles of ACT that help clients develop a life enhancing capability known as psychological flexibility. The ACT model comprises two processes, the first of which includes the core principles of mindfulness, acceptance, defusion and observing-self.
In the second workshop, the next process in ACT is covered including the core principles of values and action. In terms of professional development through knowledge of ACT skills, we will have an opportunity to explore and discuss ACT skills in practice.
The learning experience includes teaching, worksheets, discussion, handouts and mindfulness/acceptance practice.  A CPD certificate will be provided.
